Opinions on Oliver Cromwell vary greatly, and often reflect one's religion and background. This is a book by nineteenth century English jurist, Frederic Harrison, who attempts to see Cromwell in an objective, balanced manner. And, to a large degree, he succeeds. But Cromwell is one of those controversial historical figures whose motives will be forever be debated. This is a worthwhile book for anyone seeking objectivity about Cromwell, or as much objectivity as can exist in such a complex subject.
